Relay Weekend Performances Dominate This Week's Performance of the Week List

It was relay weekend in US track and field with the Penn Relays, Drake Relays and the National Relay Championships. We saw an American record, world U20 record, a US all-comers record and two collegiate records. View the choices and vote for this week's DyeStat Performance of the Week!

Calabar Jamaica Boys: Twelve boys from Calabar high school in Jamaica won the 4x100, 4x400 and 4x800 relays at the Penn Relays, running 39.51, 3:03.79 and 7:26.09. The last two were meet records.

Skylar Ciccolini: The high school junior from Mifflin County PA won the javelin at the Penn Relays with a throw of 172-2 (52.47m), good for 11th on the all-time prep performer list.

Maggie Ewen: The Arizona State senior broke the outdoor collegiate record in the shot put at the Desert Heat Classic with a mark of 63-10.25 (19.46m). She also threw the hammer 239-6 (73.01m).

Ashley Henderson: The San Diego State junior won the 100 meters at the Desert Heat Classic in 10.98. That is good for ninth on the collegiate all-time list.

Hopewell Valley Central NJ Boys: The quartet of Teddy MeredithAmos BarnesTim Dolan and Sean Dolan broke the Penn Relays record in the distance medley relay, running 9:57.77, good for 11th on the all-time prep list.

Tia Jones: The high school junior from George Walton GA won the 100-meter hurdles at the GHSA 7A Sectional for Regions 2,3,4 and 5 in 13.03. That is the 13th-fastest time ever for a prep. Jones now holds four of the top 14 times, including the top two, all-time.

Rhonex Kipruto: The 18-year-old Kenyan distance runner won the UAE Healthy Kidney 10K in a U.S. all-comers record of 27:08. He also set a world best at 8K with a time of 21:45.

Sydney McLaughlin: The Kentucky freshman broke her own 400-meter hurdles world U20 record at the National Relay Championships, running 53.60, which ranks her fourth on the all-time collegiate list. She also ran legs on Kentucky's 4x100 and 4x400 relays which finished in 42.84 and 3:27.07 respectively.

Michael Saruni: The UTEP sophomore broke the collegiate record in the 800 meters at the Desert Heat Classic, running 1:43.25. He won the race by over three seconds.

Jenny Simpson: The American middle distance runner broke the American record in the 2-mile at the Drake Relays, running 9:16.78.

Vallanova Woman: The women of Villanova swept the distance relays at the Penn Relays for the second straight year, winning the 4x800 in 8:19.98, the 4x1,500 in 17:35.48 and the distance medley relay in 11:01.94.
